Music for the New Mass Translation

This deeply moving and traditional composition for the Mass is music for the New Roman Missal, (USCCB), the new translation of the Mass that will be in use by next fall in U.S. churches. It was recorded at St. Joseph Church in Shelton, CT using the two manual Austin Organ, with the assistance of St. Joseph's Little Schola, guest singers, and a wealth of prayers from faithful friends. The full scoring was made using Finale and patiently transcribed by Douglas R. Simms, MMus.

About the Composer: The Mass of the Prophets and Martyrs was composed by L. Columbkille Simms, Music Director of St. Joseph's Parish. She has been a church musician for over 30 years, holds a BMus degree in Church Music from Stetson University and a MMus degree from SMU. She has been a published composer of church music in the past and presently serves as the regular organist and choir director at weekly parish Masses where new and original compositions often slip in. At Easter Vigil of 2009 she joyfully became a Roman Catholic after years of work in Protestant and Anglican churches. She is married and lives on a small farm in Oxford, CT with her husband, Doug. Mrs. Simms is also a Celtic harper and has produced a CD, 'Songs in the Night' based on her work as a music therapy harper at Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT
