FOR YOUR INFORMATION

If you and your family will be traveling and need to locate a church, phone 1-800-Mass-Times (1-800-627-7846) to find a church and learn its Mass schedule. This info is also available on the Internet at www.masstimes.org.

AISLE CANDLES

Our parish has purchased 14 aisle candles which may be used for weddings and other special occasions upon request. The aisle candles are hardwood with brass fittings. Anyone interested in memorializing a candle can do so by calling the Parish Office (924-8611). The cost for each memorial is $150. All donors will be acknowledged on a plaque in the Church.

WHERE DOES GOD LIVE?

A little girl sat in a rowboat with her grandfather. "Tell me Grandpa," she asked, "Where does God live?" "Look in the water and tell me what you see," replied the wise old man. "I see me," said the young girl gazing at her reflection. "And that’s where God lives," answered her grandfather, "He lives in you."

WHO WANTS TO BE BLESSED?

When we read the Beatitudes, it is often with mixed emotions. The results sound enticing -- to inherit the earth, see God, be shown mercy -- but some of those initial requirements sound pretty awful. Who wants to mourn, be poor in spirit or persecuted? The simple answer is no one! Everyone wants to avoid sorrow and suffering. But we exist in a world that rejected Jesus and His loving lifestyle. So when we follow His example of servitude and sacrifice, it’s bound to get painful. Life hurts, sometimes simply because we’re Christians. And the Beatitudes promise these unavoidable pains will be noted and rewarded by our Heavenly Father.

NEW CULTURAL CENTER

If you are traveling to the Washington, D.C. area, plan to stop and visit that area’s newest attraction, the Pope John Paul II Cultural Center, located near the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the Catholic University of America. The Center features a Children’s Gallery, museum shop, bookstore, café and theatre

CRISIS COUNSELING SERVICES

Crisis counseling services are available for the victims and family members of the terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and any other location. Individuals of any age needing assistance should call the Catholic Family Services office closest to their home for an appointment with a trained crisis counseling and crisis debriefing counselor: Bridgeport (372-4301, ext. 348), Danbury (743-4412), Norwalk (750-9711) and Stamford (323-1105).

NO RIGHTS

Today unborn children remain the only class of people accorded absolutely no rights. And the first right which the unborn are denied is the keystone, for if one lacks a right to exist, all other rights are rendered meaningless.
