VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Are you ready for a week “By The Sea” right here at St. Joseph Church?  The Vacation Bible School committee is hard at work planning a fun filled, faith filled program for the children during the week of July 23 to July 27.  We’re looking forward to a visit from Stew Leonard’s “WOW, THE HEALTH COW” and a presentation from the Maritime Center on undersea animals.

Stop in the Religious Education Office during the week to register.  The cost is $25 for one child, $15 for each additional child, with a maximum of $40 per family.  Make checks payable to St. Joseph Religious Education.  For additional information call Arlene Clancy (924-4669) or Pat Heller (924-9677.)

MISSION TRIP TO PERU

“This summer I will be going on a mission trip to Peru.  During my stay, I will work at a camp called Cruz Blanca for street children.  This camp is free and there they can just be kids.  I will be visiting villages in the mountains and experience what life is like there.  I will also visit the sick and elderly and lend a hand at a free/low cost walk in clinic where the poor can go to get quality medical attention.  I need to raise $1,300.  If you would like to donate, money can go the parish office in an envelope marked ‘Angela Kingsley/Mission Trip to Peru’.  The children would really love you for it.

In Christ,  Angela Kingsley” (age 17)

“GUARDIAN ANGELS” NEEDED

The “Guardian Angels” program is a financial aid scholarship program that was launched in 2005 by friends and parishioners who wished to help deserving students attend St. Joseph School.  Last year, the program benefited 14 students who otherwise might not have been able to afford a Catholic education.  Administered directly by the parish, funds collected by the “Guardian Angels” program subsidize a significant part of the tuition cost for active parish families who demonstrate some financial need.  If you would like to sponsor a child in our parish school next year for a half, three-quarters, or full tuition scholarship, please contact Father Chris directly.

MOM’S OR DAD’S TO ASSIST IN TEACHING PRE-BAPTISM CLASSES

Deacon Tony is looking for Mom’s, Dad’s or couples to volunteer to assist in teaching Pre-Baptism Classes on the Fourth Sunday of each month.  Depending upon the number of volunteers, your commitment may only be a few times each year.  Each class lasts approximately one hour, and is normally held the fourth Sunday of each month from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. in the Religious Ed. Building behind the Church.  Volunteers would assist Deacon Tony in teaching the class, by sharing their personal perspective on the importance of their faith, and the St. Joseph’s Faith Community to their family.  No special training required.

Please consider sharing the gift of your faith with others in this important ministry.  Please contact Deacon Tony through the Parish Office.  Thanks in advance – We really need your help!
