2011 CAPITAL CAMPAIGN NEWS

UPDATE  

Thank you to those who have already made pledges to our Capital Campaign.  After 13 weeks, pledges total $847,815, 77% of our goal!  The active phase of our campaign concluded at the end of January; if you have not had the opportunity to fill out a pledge card, we invite you to take one from the end of the pew, fill it out and either place it in the collection basket or mail it to the Parish Office.

Please note :  because of the large demand for “Named Memorial” plaques at the $5,000 and $10,000 pledge level, eight more gift opportunities for the Church Hall sanctuary and sacristy have been added to those already announced.

Sincerest thanks to the 320+ parish families who have pledged to our Church and Hall Renovation Project!!

 

PLEDGE PAYMENT INFORMATION

Monthly statements will start being mailed shortly to all who will be making pledge payments on an installment basis.  Pledge payments should be made payable to St. Joseph Church Capital Campaign with a note on the memo line of the check that it is a pledge payment.  If you have any questions, please call Ginny or Sheila at the Parish Office.  Thank you!

ATTENTION ALL SUBCONTRACTORS

General contractors are currently working on bids for the Church Hall renovation project.  Subcontractors interested in being considered for the plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, HVAC, flooring, painting and masonry portions of the project should contact Deacon Brad Smythe as soon as possible (203-924-7885, ext. 407 or stjoseph.plant@sbcglobal.net).

 

Parishioners, please note:  the Miraculous Medal Novena, normally held in the Church on Thursday evening at 7 p.m., will be held in the Chapel during the winter months beginning immediately.

URGENT!!!! CONTACT INFO FOR LEGISLATORS

 Last weekend’s bulletin contained a letter from Bishop Lori expressing his concerns about the impact of a recent ruling by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the millions of Catholics in our country and to the millions more served by Catholic institutions.  The ruling will force almost all employers, including Catholic employers, and health insurers to offer health insurance coverage for sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs and contraception.  In addition, almost all individuals will be forced to buy that coverage as part of their policies.  Never before in the history of our country have citizens been forced to directly purchase something that violates their consciences.  Please contact our area’s legislators to protest this serious assault on our religious liberty:

  ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL GUARDIAN ANGEL TUITION ASSISTANCE

The “Guardian Angels” fund is a financial aid scholarship program which helps deserving students attend St. Joseph School.  Last year the program benefited 23 students from 16 families who otherwise might not have been able to afford a Catholic education.  Administered directly by our parish, funds collected by the “Guardian Angels” program subsidize a significant part of the tuition for active parish families who demonstrate some financial need.  If you would like to sponsor a child in our school this coming year for $250 to $4,000, please contact Msgr. Chris directly.  Monthly payments can be made starting at $25.

ATTENTION ELECTRONIC OFFERTORY DONORS All offertory funds have been updated on “Our Sunday Visitor’s” website.  Current electronic offertory donors and those who are interested in learning more about online giving can access the online giving website by visiting our parish’s website (www.sjcshelton.org), scrolling down to the “Online Giving” box on the left side of the page, and clicking on the “online giving available for offertory contributions” phrase.  Remember:  you make all changes online to your (online giving) personal account, including adding special collections, as well as increasing or decreasing your regular offertory amount.

Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary The Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary are recited in Church every weekday at 11:30 a.m. prior to the beginning of the 12:05 p.m. Mass.  Except for the month of Jul and Aug.  Please join us!!                                                               02/06/2011

Food Donations Needed Please remember that a collection bin is in the Parents Room for non-perishable food items.  Donations are distributed continually to both the Spooner House and St. Vincent DePaul Society.  Please be as generous as your means will permit.

Spanish Charismatic Prayer Group A Spanish Charismatic Prayer Group will be meeting every Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Upper Room.  All are welcome to come to sing and pray.  Please contact Cesar Galicia (732-5319) for more information.
